Richard was born and raised in Hilo, Hawai'i and started farming in 1977 and prides himself on hard work, determination, and a network of good friends and community.

Richard started out producing greenhouse grown cut chrysanthemums in Mt. View, HI, and transitioned to outdoor vegetable farming about 15 years ago on land leased from Kamehameha Schools Trust where he continues to have a thriving farm. In 2019, Richard won the Kamehameha Schools Mahi'ai a Ola contest.

Other crops Richard grows include: ulu (breadfruit), and sweet potatoes.

We are honored to work with Richard who prides himself in growing organic and sustainable crops with much care and aloha. We know our elixir is filled with the love of Mana Olena and farmers like Richard.
